Hello, I’m Erwin Dunnebier. Welcome on Art by ARTS on which I exhibit my creations.

Born in Kentucky USA, from Dutch parents, I moved to The Netherlands.

Early motivated to be a Medical Doctor, I started to study Medicine at the University of Amsterdam. After this, I specialized to become an Ear- Nose- and Throat Surgeon.

Since the word “Arts” means “Medical Doctor” in the Dutch language, the combination of ART and an esculape (as the symbol of Medicine) clarifies the name and logo of this site.

Although loving my specialty at work very much, I also enjoy my leisure time in the beautiful surroundings of where I live in Castricum at the coastal area of Holland. Inspired by this beautiful area, I captured many stunning views from the North Sea ocean, the colourful variety of clouds (photo left side) and other beach life.

Inspired by these moments, transformations to paintings were made. I love being an ocean painter, as the waves give me the same feeling as staring in an open fire..

Called being an autodidact, it took a lot of effort and practise to find the right style and material for a satisfying result of my work. Probably acting too precise as being a surgeon, the concept of “en plein air” painting is not my cup of tea. I wouldn’t be satisfied with a hasty result. The paintings were created in my studio, based on my own photographs with memories and artistic freedom….

The other interest lies in macro photography of flowers revealing the beauty in its heart, understanding the attraction that Bees must have for it, the symbiosis between these two and the need for their protection. Enjoy their smashing colours and throw yourself into these attractive flowers!!

My favorite subject on this site is the @ closer look section in which ordinary tiny flowers which can be overlooked can be so interesting, just around you and me!

J. ten Hove,  Art Critic :

His impressionistic acrylic and oil paintings from the coastal area invites you for a moment of actually being there; the sounds of the breaking waves, feeling the wind and the sensation of the different weather conditions which can change so quickly along the coast. In these conditions, sunset and its light reflections are a fascinating delight which he captures for an everlasting enjoyment……

His interest in macro photography originates from his microsurgical operations done by the microscope. By this way, he detected a complete other world, just out of reach of what the normal eye can discover. So close by, the wonders of our body are now much more easily visible, but also accessible to participate in its restoration and saving of its functions to enjoy life again for his patients. Enjoying nature, he also detected a fascinating beauty of flowers just out of reach of the normal eye, a lust for the eyes was revealed as only bees could see…..  In can recommend to take a look, and even better: imagine to have vivid colourful breathtaking enlargements in your office…
